Piling in London – This job in Ealing was for a single storey extension on the rear of a three storey house. Here the client came to us with a design from his own structural engineer. The job required heave protection in which is the yellow stuff you can see under the beam and the thinner polystyrene you can see to the inside. This is because trees were nearby and it allows the ground to expand should the trees ever stop sucking water out of the ground. The beam here is higher than any other beam I have installed because there were drains absolutely everywhere at awkward heights, which impacts on the floor level, but a solution was finally found.

In this picture we have just poured, vibrated and levelled the concrete. The vibrating takes excess air out of the concrete so it achieves its maximum stength. It also aids in ensuring the piles are full of concrete as they can look full when they aren’t. We use the laser level to get the concrete flat and level so you can’t be too far out. This hopefully gives your bricklayer one less thing to moan about.
