Here we have piled and installed the steel reinforcement, along with shutter so that it is ready to be inspected. The job here was next to Richmond cemetery and was for a single storey side extension. It was piled as there was a main drain running right through the centre of the extension and the utility companies don’t want any weight bearing down on their asset. The piles here went around 2.5 metres deep from ground level, which was just delow the drain.

We have concreted the above job here. As you can see it is quite a nice height for the bricklayer to start and it is levelled using the laser. We also vibrate the concrete to ensure the piles are full, as well as to release any trapped air in the concrete so it is as strong as it is meant to be. A c35 mix was used here which is the most common mix for piled foundations.
